The scope of this dissertation is to critically analyze the preliminary agreement in complex relationship, notably regarding the obligation level or predetermination of the definitive agreement substance level (weak, medium and strong), and the practical consequences of preliminary agreement in complex relationship. The study starts with the historic and evolutionary analysis of the application of the preliminary agreement, followed by a presentation of its basic characteristics. Furthermore, the requisites of existence, validity and effectiveness of the preliminary agreement and its practical consequences in the complex relationship will be examined, based on current Brazilian legislation regarding obligations
