This research aims to examine the discourse of fear present in several Brazilian television programs, to study the contributions that these programs provide to society. The research emphasized the TV news that sensationalize themes such as fear, violence and drama, and also the coverage made by them, and other programs that address a more diverse thematic, but eventually also explore the above issues. Therefore, there was not a limited number of analyzed programs, the ones that were part of the corpus were displayed in the main open television stations in the early 1990s to the present day, however it is necessary to mention that those that stand out nationally in this area are Brasil Urgente, aired by Rede Bandeirantes and presented by José Luiz datena, and Cidade Alerta, aired by Record and presented by Marcelo Rezende. Since then, the description of the TV News was made as well the in-depth study of specific events that have become cases of national commotion, the Case of Suzane von Richthofen, the Case of Isabella Nardoni and the Case of Eloá Cristina. Some authors whose theories were fundamental to the analysis of the programs and the cases are Barber and Lima (2013), on behalf of its notes on journalistic practice; Baudrillard (2011), due to his observations on the society of comsumption; and Debord (1997), because of his study of the society of the spectacle |
