This work presents the results of a research about Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda collection, published from 1971 to 1989, by Companhia Editora Nacional. This collection was composed of didactic books of General and Brazil s History, designated to students from the 5th to the 8th grade of elementary school. Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda was the principal writer of these books. Other teachers contributed for these work. They were teachers from the University of São Paulo and from the public schools. Considering that these books presented some innovations about editorial patterns and history teaching, the objectives of the investigation about them were: analyze the participation of different people involved in that elaboration, the contradictions between the political and educational changes of that period, the signs of scholar practice from the teachers and how these situations appears in didactic books of this collection. In order to do so, the documents from Companhia Editora Nacional were analyzed, principally the production of this collection and the other books of History, as well as the graphic aspects and the curricular contents of Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda collection. This research had Cultural History as theoretical reference, in special authors as Chervel, Julia, Hébrard, Bittencourt, Munakata, Toledo among others. Among the results of this research, and the ones that will be shown in this work, we distinguish Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda collection by its quality, serving as a tool of changes for those who want a better quality History teaching |
