In the context of the communication processes and the network cultures imaginaries, what are the consequences of the happiness narratives shared by Brazilian digital influencers on Instagram, in users that follows them daily as a compulsory habit? The present research aims to investigate the cultural and communication processes, based on happiness narratives published on Instagram, and to propose new critical interlacing based on the theoretical foundation in conjunction with the possible results found in the empirical research. In the telematic networks, it is a common habit to follow the exposure of individuals who build narratives in which they present their lives as perfect. This communication phenomenon is composed by two interactional movements that complement each other: on the one hand, the public, composed by a legion of curious and eager looks for this kind of spectacle, interacts following the content of the digital social networks of those who publish perfection and happiness narratives. Our argument is that by frequently and anxiously watching those narratives, the public abandon their own lives and creates a new way of being on the world, permeated by the anxious and daily monitoring of the happiness of others. The method is composed by three procedures: bibliographic research, empiric research and a cartography of the imaginaries. The theoretical foundation conjugates: network cultures (Leão, Sibilia); performance society (Han); and happiness (Freire F., Bruckner). The empirical research involves monitoring comments of users that follows both selected digital influencers; the corpus is composed by posts made in the period leading to Christmas until the beginning of January in 2018 and 2019. The criteria for selecting this period was the considerable increase in the sharing of narratives that refer to happiness, due to the festive time of the year. The focus of the mapping and the analysis of this comments relies on the investigation of how the trivial act of following this happiness narratives are inserted on the users’ routine and the consequences on the communication and cultural processes on digital social networks. The result of this empirical research provides us clues for the comprehension of the relations that are proposed by the theoretical foundation and compose the basis for the development of the cartography of imaginaries |
