Resumo: | This paper aims to achieve the knowledge of how the relation between the times represented in the cinema and the imaginary happens. The questions regarding time are frequent in our lives and time itself is object of cinematographic manipulation. According to the resources available in editing related to time representation, as well as the possible understandings of time we acknowledge the relation between cinema, time and imaginary (Aumont, 1993, 1995, 2003, 2008; Bazin, 1991; Eisenstein, 2002). This methodology is based upon the analysis of Vanoye and Goliot-Lété films and the concepts of temporal representations proposed by Jacques Aumont. The concepts approached are illustrated with sequences from reference films: An Andalusian Dog (Un Chien Andalou), Citizen Kane and Breathless (A Bout De Souffle). The final understanding is that there is an interrelationship between the cinema and the imaginary regarding time questions and this mutual understanding passes through editing. |
