Resumo: | Bioethics as a new subject area is related to many themes and the health care is one between them. Bioethics is concerned about the recent advances in the biotechnology; however, little has been researched regarding ethics aspects of psychotherapeutic process. Most of bioethical discussions have been treated about biotechnology, but there are almost any research relating it with psychotherapy. Bioethics has a great importance for psychology if we consider that psychotherapy is a practice with therapeutic purpose. Six clinical psychotherapists were interviewed, three oriented by psychoanalysis and three cognitive-behavioral psychology professionals, with the purpose of knowing what they understand about the bioethical concept of autonomy in psychotherapy. The interviews had a semi-structured frame, allowing asking for more comprehensive answers. Autonomy was considered a main goal of psychotherapy although sometimes it appears invisible. Psychoanalysis and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy have common points concerning autonomy (i. e., patient autonomy is recognized as important factor in psychotherapy, and it is aimed as a process effect), but there are differences due the theoretical model. These differences modify the understanding and practice of autonomy in psychotherapy: in Psychoanalysis any patient question about psychotherapy process is linked with his/her analysis and mental structure, helping self-understanding and interpretations. In Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, professionals informs patient about some aspects of psychotherapy, like aims, procedures and time, and these information helps him/her to improve therapeutic alliance. |
