Resumo: | This is a study involving the history of the recent Mathematics in Rio Grande do Sul from 1951 to 1978. It has as referencial the magazine “Revista do Ensino/RS” which circulated in the same period with the objective to supply orientations, subsidies, opinions and activities to the elementary teacher, at a first moment and later for the high schools. Its incorporation in educational publishing market was without precedents and can be attributed to this periodic the status of producer of speeches on different subjects, here specifically about the Mathematics, for guiding on its contents, importance, validity and necessity to adapt to schools. The speeches which had circulated in the Revista do Ensino/RS and have had as reference Michel Foucault’s conception had been grouped and analyzed in seven categories: speeches about the teacher and the pupil; about the Mathematics; Methodology; Arithmetic; Geometry; the image and the modern Mathematics. In each one of these categories is analyzed what the articles of the periodic tell and how they structuralize as enunciators of truths, also by Michel Foucault’s optics. The grouping in such categories was possible after the catalogue of 233 articles published by the magazine and analyzed with this purpose. With the study, it is possible to conclude the large contributions has come from the selected material, in ways that is possible to attribute to Revista do Ensino/RS the dimension of great propeller of discursive elements about Mathematics that has been lasting until nowadays in practical and in the ideology about its education. |
