Resumo: | The insertion of the theme on climate change in the educational environment is of paramount importance for responsible and conscious technical and professional training, especially for health and environment. The approach to climate change needs to be at all three levels of education, however, higher education should bring future physical educators knowledge to recognize the importance of environmental factors in the practice of physical activity. The objective of this study was to identify the knowledge and perception of undergraduate and bachelor students in Physical Education on climate change and their behavior regarding the impacts of climate change on health. It was used a semi-structured instrument, available on the platform on-line (Blackboard), containing 35 questions on climate change, applied to university students from the 1st to the 8th Physical Education period of a university in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The questionnaire was available for access between 8/9/2016 and 11/11/2016, and the issues were about interest, importance, concern and perception about climate change under different aspects. Of a total of 720 students invited to participate in the survey, 211 accessed the questionnaire, three disagreed with participating in the survey and 100 students responded adequately. The results were submitted to descriptive statistical analysis, comparing the answers by sex and age group. Approximately 82% of respondents believe that climate change is occurring, however, 45% of respondents indicated great interest in the theme (45.5%). While maintaining the values of interest balanced, the majority of students (77.3%) consider the subject of great importance, and 78% show great concern about this problem. Approximately 48% of the evaluated ones consider that the learning of this subject in higher education can bear fruit and generate good reflexes among the new professionals of the Physical Education, and when asked about the level of knowledge about climate change and the health reflexes, approximately (95 , 5%) consider it with insufficient or moderate knowledge. University students have said they believe climate change is happening in the present, but they realize they have little information on the subject. They said that inserting the theme of climate change into the curriculum could make a big difference in theoretical training, acting as conscious citizens and would make a lot of difference in professional practice, since they could provide more safety in the development of training with their clients. |
