Resumo: This work aims to consider the university internationalization, based on the resourcebased view, facing a highly competitive situation and the successful globalization process, which brings advances in economy, society, technology and education. The internationalization becomes a relevant research issue around the globe, mainly because of students curriculum needs in knowledge that focused the globalized society. In this context, the universities have implemented strategic actions looking for internationalization, new partnerships are established, as research opportunities with other universities (Institutions of higher education), teacher and student mobility as well the development of academic activities for a global citizen training, who besides mastering other languages, also learning about new cultures and developing possibilities in their professional life. In this research, the strategic action theory was approached: the Resource Based View and its possible applicability on universities internationalization, with a view to its resources and capacities. The most important issues emerged from the literature review are highlighted by the most important authors, who said that is one of the main factors that could influence the institutions internationalization. They are: motivators, barriers and facilitators. The first category mentioned by the authors is the university motivations to seek for internationalization, considering that at the actual world is important the participation at the world academic community. They need an academic curriculum focused on a globalized and without borders world, this internationalization could be a competitive advantage for the universities. It pointed out the universities main barriers and difficulties in the Brazilian context for effectively create a strong internationalization project and a sustainable development in their future actions. Finally, this research presented the main facilitating aspects to enable Brazilian’s universities internationalization and to create possibilities for a strategic planning focused on the requests of a global education, which could promote Brazil development as a nation. At least it realized that the internationalization process could be a strong market strategy, generate a long-term competitive advantage, besides promoting development in the organizational and social spheres.
