Resumo: Starting from an integrating conceptual framework proposed by Gary Yukl, this work presents a review of the main leadership theories, which will support a survey in a Brazilian organization, with the purpose of verifying if the variables in the Yukl framework are present in the leadership phenomenon. The conceptual review in this work presents the four great stages of the theory and research about leadership: a) an approach about the personal traits that goes up to the 1940s; b) an approach about style that goes up to the 1960s; c) a contingent approach that goes up to the 1980s; and d) and approach of the new leadership that reaches up to the present days. Next, all of the research methodology is presented with the purpose of answering the great question: Are the variables that compose the integrating conceptual framework proposed by Gary Yukl observable in a Brazilian organization that is internationally acknowledged? After tabulating and analysing the results, it can be observed that it is possible to state that those variables are present in the organization that was studied and, as important as acknowledging this, is the possibility of perceiving new researches that this theme offer to those who study the subject. Based on the results that were obtained, it can be observed that leadership is a phenomenon that occurs in interpersonal relationships between two or more people, in which there are exchanges of influences and power concession, and this leadership is the more effectively exerted the greater is the ability people have to use the available tools and their perception of how favourable is the internal and external organizational environments.
