Resumo: |
This dissertation is the result of researches that intend to familiarize the topic of the servant leadership in the national context through empirical investigations in nongovernmental organizations, known as New Communities. The study had as objective to analyze the main characteristics of the Servant Leadership that are present in the Family of Hope by the perception of members residing in Brazil. The theoretical basis was the historical construction of the concepts of leadership, starting from the historical eras to the contemporary approaches, resulting in the arguments that record the servant leader in the literature; in addition, there was an effort to conceptualize the New Communities. This is an exploratory-descriptive research with a quantitative methodological approach. For data collection on servent leadership, the instrument developed and validated by Dennis and Bocarnea (2005) was used, based on the Patterson measurement model (2003), in the Portuguese version developed by Luz (2011). The sample was formed by 301 members of the organization, spread throughout the national territory, who answered the questionnaire in an online version. The data were analyzed through procedures related to descriptive statistics, taking the average by measure of central tendency and the standard deviation by measure of dispersion. In addition, a Factorial Analysis in Principal Components was applied to construct factors in order to better understand the phenomenon under study. The first conclusions indicate that the organizational scenario researched adheres to the concepts of the servant leadership pointed out by Patterson (2003), as well, their leaders end up behaving before the assumptions indicated as servant leaders. Ten factors (altruism, humility, trust, encouragement, mediator, moral values, modest, vision, service and benefactor) were then observed, which seem to adhere to the theoretical assumptions commonly associated with the theme. |
