Resumo: Competence-based teaching (CBT) has been used in several countries, as a way to develop multiplier skills in individuals and thus to address the needs of the market. In Brazil, the Ministry of Education formally adopted it as a learning methodology. The graduation of aircraft pilots is one of the educational segments, which makes use of this methodology. The purpose of this study is to verify quantitatively the Technology Degree Course in Aircraft Professional Piloting teachers, students and former students’ perception, about the development of Cognitive, Technical/Professional, Social, Communication and ProblemSolving competences during the course. The applied methodology, based on bibliographic and documental study, and based on a field survey conducted by online forms, received responses to the competence development questions. The study proved the importance and the perceived degree of the competence development in the framework of the course. Both teachers and students/former students assigned a degree of importance above “very important” to the showed competences. In the perceived development of competences in the course, teachers showed a lower perception than students and former students in all competences, with an emphasis on Communication competence, especially in the skill “Develop text writing clearly and objectively”. In Social competence, there was a teachers’ low evaluation in “respect the others and the diversity” skills. The three samples perception was positive to the development of “Technical/Professional” skills. There was a similar perception of partial development from the three samples in the skills of Problem-Solving competence. The research still brought the perception about the relevance of competences to employability. The survey found, by the samples appreciation, the importance of competences to the pilot carrier, and pointed, by the analyzed competences, which ones require more attention to the development and need of a constant improvement of the applied CBT model, in order to graduate more qualified and competent pilots for the Brazilian Aviation.
