A competência comunicativa de alunos do curso superior: uma caracterização

Resumo: | The education, a key factor for the evolution of the human being in all aspects of his life, doesn’t receive, nowadays, the treatment and the appreciation as it should. Through the learning disabilities presented during the basic formation, deficiencies that can be detected by several assessment tests: Saresp, Enem, among others, the student, when is introduced in a college, presents numerous difficulties to follow the college course since this course requires competences that should have been developed in previous stages. In a Law course it is not different and through the experiences as a teacher of this course for 6 years, the barriers that the students face are, mostly, difficulties related to their formation in elementary and high school. In a Law course there is the need of a wide view and not only a legalistic one, so that the students can participate actively of the social and global process, ceasing of being a mere technician linked exclusively to forensic activities. Among the skills that should be acquired in the formation process there is the communicative skill. The written and spoken word is the mean by which the parts in conflict consist, therefore, the ability of argumentative persuasion is fundamental in the student’s formation. We understand that the communicative competence is the ability to read and produce texts. Considering that this competence is essential to the professional formation in all branches of knowledge, we aim to verify the weaknesses of this capacity in texts produced by students initiating in a Law course at a private university in the state of São Paulo, in order to identify the level of literacy of these individuals. The corpus of this research consists of thirty-six texts written by students in the first grade of the Law course obtained through a reading activity proposed to these students. Thus, assuming that the communicative competence constitutes itself the base competence for the formation of the Law professional, we believe that identifying the weaknesses of this competence in texts produced by students initiating in a Law course can contribute to the development of projects that aim to eliminate these weaknesses in order to promote a significative improvement in the performance.
