Summary: | The book presents the results of a state-of-the-art post-doctoral research that aimed to map academic research dealing with socio-environmental issues related to STS Education (Science, Technology and Society) in the Latin American context. The book is organized into four chapters. The first presents a brief review of the STS research field, dealing with its origins and approaches to environment and education. In the second, the research methodology is exposed: in the first section it is characterized as a documental analysis; the second section presents the methods of data collection, organization and analysis. The research had as data source works published in the annals of the “Jornadas Latinoamericanas de Estudios Sociales de la Ciencia y la Tecnología” (Jornadas ESOCITE) and in texts of dissertations and theses defended in Latin American universities, in the period of 1995 and 2018. The third chapter presents the research results. It is subdivided into two sections: one containing a survey of the works presented in 11 of the 12 editions of the ESOCITE Journeys and the other with the mapping of master's dissertations and doctoral theses from two universities in Brazil and two in Argentina. The fourth and last chapter summarizes the analysis. It presents considerations about some limitations observed due to the data accessed, as well as possibilities of research developments in future investigations. |
