Resumo: |
The literature has indicated a growing increase in the number of lawsuits arising from inadequate rehabilitation planning in the areas of dental prostheses and implantodontics. Therefore, the objective of this study was to perform a systematic review of the literature, seeking to address the issue of possible complications, planning errors, inadequate behavior, deviations in dental treatments, which reflected in legal proceedings or that lead to dental complications with impact on the patient and dental professional. Thus, a detailed search in the main databases (PubMed, SciELO, Cochrane) was performed for articles published until Oct./2018. The PRISMA criteria and the Cochrane database were used to perform this systematic review. The software used was Comprehensive Meta-Analysis for the meta-analysis, it was considered a value of p <0.05. The initial search with the uniterms allowed to select 594 studies and of these 5 studies were included. The included studies showed that in relation to the number of cases of complaints against professionals, 40.2% became legal action and the outcome was favorable to dentists in 48.8% of cases. Regarding the distribution of court fees by specialty, there was a predominance of implantodontics (52.8%) and dental prostheses (27.0%). The main deficiency was related to rehabilitation planning and organization of patient data. Based on the studies evaluated, a correct rehabilitation planning of the patients, adequate documentation of the clinical cases and constant improvement of the professional is of great importance. |
