Resumo: Introduction: The National Immunization Program was created in 1973 with the mission of eradicating or maintaining over control all diseases that can be monitored through vaccines, becoming a government action characterized by social inclusion, as it assists all people, in all corners of the country, without distinction of any kind. Objective: check the level of information of the parents / guardians on the vaccines and their purposes and elaborate an educational material with the main information about vaccine. Method: This is a descriptive study, with the application of a structured questionnaire, seeking to raise the sociodemographic profile of the parents and / or children responsible for the vaccines and to identify their level of information about the purpose of the National Immunization Program, objectives of the vaccines and against that diseases protect, carried out in the period of two months, in the Basic Health Unit Mário Pinto de Avelar Fernandes - Falcão Health Center, located in Vila Paraíso in the municipality of Bauru. Results: The study pointed out that mothers, regardless of their educational level, have knowledge about vaccines, the program and the importance of protecting their children. When questioned about the interest of receiving educational material, such as a booklet to clarify and elucidate doubts, a significant proportion of the mothers have shown knowledge about the vaccines, but they need a support material. Endings considerations: The end of the study is expected to improve the level of information of the parents / guardians on the vaccines made available by the National Program of Immunization, thus improving the adhesion in the vaccine rooms.
