Resumo: |
Unsustainable patterns of production, marketing, and consumption have led to an increase in the amount of waste generated by organizations across society. Solid waste has become a major challenge to sustainable development, especially for governments, and one of the potential generators of these materials is food supply and logistics centers in different states. In this context, and considering the National Solid Waste Policy (PNRS), CEASA/PE brings significant numbers in the generation of solid waste, especially organic waste. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the management of solid waste in the Supply and Logistics Center of Pernambuco - CEASA/PE, based on Thomas Dye's institutional model, with a view to sustainable development. Following a qualitative approach, being a descriptive and documentary research, with survey and treatment of primary information collected from the institution, the study showed that CEASA/PE has institutionally implemented several solid waste management programs and actions over the years, especially with regard to the composting of organic matter. The main program is Sustainable Fertilizer, which produces an organic compost from waste generated in the warehouse and donated to rural producers. Another program, "Sopa Amiga", also contributes environmentally and socially by reusing vegetables suitable for consumption, transforming them into soup for social solidarity institutions. |
