Resumo: Federal Institutions of Higher Education have an essential role in the formation of a conscious individual towards their participation in the construction of a sustainable society. In this context, the present research addressed the insertion of the theme Sustainable Practices in Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES), having as research field the headquarters campus of the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), in the Dois Irmãos neighborhood, in Recife, taking into account UFRPE's Sustainable Logistics Management Plan (PLS) in its item 3.6, which addresses the survey of sustainability practices and rationalization of the use of materials and services, as well as the importance of strategies for the engagement of teaching staff and administrative technicians in sustainable practices. Therefore, the present investigation has the general objective of investigating the actions of the academic community at UFRPE in relation to the sustainable practices defined in the PLS to strengthen socio-environmental responsibility through gamification. Its realization is justified by the concern with sustainable practices in public administration, more precisely in IFES, according to Decree nº 7.746 / 2012, which, in article 16, defines the creation of PLS for direct, autarchic and foundational federal public administration and state-owned companies. This research is characterized by a qualitative and quantitative approach, as it has as premise to make a survey of the knowledge of UFRPE servers about actions involving sustainable practices on campus, in addition to being an applied research, since it deals with participation effectiveness of the employees regarding sustainable practices in their work activities, thus having quantitative elements considered in the sample. As for objectives, it is classified as descriptive, and as for technical procedures, documentary research and field re-search were used with the use of interviews and questionnaires, in addition to action research. For data collection, questionnaires were used with docents and technical-administrative staff and interviews with managers, in order to analyze the social and environmental perception of employees and their sustainable practices. As a product, a competition project was proposed between the sectors of UFRPE with the use of gamification mediated by distance education, as an instrument to strengthen the social and environmental actions of civil servants. In a preliminary way and based on the answers obtained, it was clear that the Institution makes efforts to insert actions aimed at sustainable practices. It was also observed that when analyzing the responses related to the guidelines of the Environmental Agenda in Public Administration (A3P), the Institutional Development Plan (PDI) and the PLS, it is noticed that there is a lack of better dissemination of the actions carried out on time, indicating thus, the need to create a specific committee at the regimental level that deals with sustainability, since there is a feeling expressed in the responses of managers in which everyone has an interest and ideas, but there is a great difficulty in bringing people together to address the issue. In view of this fact, it is clear that in order to achieve the expected objectives, it is essential to raise awareness and engage the entire academic community, in order to participate in training and actions related to the environmental issue.
