Resumo: Understanding the role of the exchange rate in determining the prices and quantity of Brazilian corn exported is the objective of this work. The study is justified by the great socioeconomic importance of the corn crop for the country under analysis and by being an indispensable element of the world food chain, today, mainly through feed and industrial processing. The econometric model of autoregressive vectors (VAR) of time series and Granger causality tests are applied to monthly observational data, from January 2009 to December 2019, proceeding to an investigation of the relationship between the exchange rate, the price received by producers in Brazil and the quantity of corn exported. The results of the analysis showed that the Exchange Rate positively affects the Price and Quantity Exported, making Brazilian corn exports more competitive in the foreign market and consequently depleting the domestic market. However, it has low explanatory power for variables with percentages corresponding to 7.20% and 2.13%, respectively, because its major determinants are aspects inherent to the corn market.
