This paper had the purpose of making an assessment of the morphology of the oviduct (regions of the magnum, isthmus and shell gland) and performance of commercial layers (Gallus Gallus) submited or not to the forced molt. So there were used 4.000 hens from the Lohmann Selected Legorn (LSL) line, with 65 weeks age lodged in plastic and iron cages, in a commercial small farm in Glória do Goitá, Pernambuco. The hens were divided in two groups: G1- Hens don´t submitted to the forced molt and G2 – hens submitted to the forced molt. The experiment took place in a period from 70 to 120 weeks age of the hens, where they were assessed the following parameters: morphology of the oviduct ( regions of the magnum, isthmus and shell gland) and production of eggs (number of produced eggs by groups and percentage of production). The morphologic results showed a larger number of secreted glans in the mucosa of magnum and isthmus, these one being more dilated and with secretion in the light of the organ. In this group we also could observe a larger uniformity in the lash covering and a larger quantity of secretion inside of the glands. The data of the performance were greater, with a significant difference in the group submitted by the forced molt (G2). We got a conclusion that the forced molt is an alternative when we want to take the maximum of the productivity of a hen making longer its reproduction cycle without losting the quality of the produced eggs. |
