Resumo: This work investigates the religious phenomenon of pilgrimages made to São Severino do Ramos in the city of Paudalho / Pernambuco, in the Zona da Mata Norte, interior of the state and how this phenomenon occupies the city. The methodology included field work on site, applying proposals for interviews for the participants, field notes and participant observation, dialoguing with bibliographic and documentary text. The contact with the field of research for verification purposes took place from 2017 to 2019. The investigation reveals that the sanctuary of São Severino do Ramos can be understood as a social economic and cultural phenomenon. The research emerged through the social relevance that the pilgrimages present to the city of Paudalho and after verifying the restriction of academic works around the event. Thus, the study also contributes to fill existing gaps. In this way, the sanctuary of St. Severinus of Ramos corresponds to the need of devotees seeking to broaden their experience with the sacred. The sanctuary gains social importance by the contingent of people who visit the site annually seeing the environment as a place of devotion and intermediation through São Severino do Ramos.
