This work aims to analyze the reasons why the Protestants in Pernambuco make speeches against communism in the middle of last century and, therefore, support the military coup that occurred in 1964. Even with the anti-communist speech not being accepted by those who were part of the evangelical churches, the persecution of the Marxist ideology was a constant because it is considered an atheist, materialist, against biblical principles and democratic. We work to understand how religious discourse and symbolic power can influence the behavior of a group or even a society, for that we were working some theorists like Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu and Peter L. Berger, who helped us to understand the efforts of evangelicals to attack Marxism and those who did not accept his political views. Searched files in Protestant seminaries located in Recife and the State Public File Jordão Emereciano. We also have some very important interviews conducted throughout the research, which helped us in understanding and analysis of our object. You can check that the believers, often in his speeches declare themselves apolitical in declaring the policy as a pagan practice were active and insightful when it came to the persecution of any leftist movement, which was generally called by the gospel of Communists , no matter if it was in fact or not. To this end the use of several derogatory terms were used to remove the believers Reds Moscow. We believe that this work will be an important contribution to the historiography of social and religious, stimulating the research work and scientific knowledge in the field of humanities and social sciences. |
