This dissertation turns to the influence of the Manguebeat Movement in the process of identity and consumption in the current cultural scene of Recife. This Movement manifested itself in the 1990s and had great national and international repercussions, surprising the music market and other cultural spheres because of its cultural diversity. This research has an exploratory characteristic, through the identification of the collection on the Movement, researches of films, documentaries, newspapers, magazines, photographs, museums, foundations, internet and discography and field research. In addition, actors were interviewed both of the Mangue Scene and the Post-Mangue Scene. This researches subsidized our research in order to meet the problem proposed for this reflection, which revolves around the forms of articulation between consumption and identity from cultural products. The work is subdivided into three chapters, the first dealing specifically with the Manguebeat Movement and the "cultural scene" of Recife with a reflection from the center-periphery relation; The second, on identity and consumption and its relation in the cultural scene of the Post- Mangue Recife, and the third, lastly, is the space in which the field analyzes that serve our object of study are presented. Among the results obtained on this process, it is highlighted that there is still a strong and symbolic identity, but in constant modifications and despite the difficulties that the alternative scene of Recife has in the dissemination of it by the local media, it happens due to the resistance of the cultural production itself that diffuses it and that if it were not that way they would still be in the margin erasing from Pernambuco history the importance and consequences of the Movement. And that is why perhaps Recife is still a reference of consumption and identity due to cultural diversity and this symbolic resistance. We give as a closing process in this work with the attachments and appendices.
