Resumo: |
Heritage history is broadly understood as the story of how a society selects the representative objects of its past. On July 16, 1938, the Sao Bento de Olinda Monastery is listed by Sphan as a work of religious architecture and registered under number 179 in the Belles Arts tombo book and under n° 86 in the Historic listing book. On March 5, 1958, the abbot Jose Bonificio Jansem requested the cancellation of the registration of the Monastery of Sao Bento in the historical and artistic heritage books to enable the construction of the College de Sao Bento. This dissertation seeks to understand the interests that motivated both the listing, requested by Sphan, and the request for listing the Monastery of Sao Bento de Olinda, requested by its administrator. The theoretical framework of Cultural History will be the basis for the proposed discussions, in particular the concepts of Memory, Document, Monument, Representation, Interdisciplinary, Micro History, Identity and Cultural Heritage. As a privileged source, we will use the process of listing the Monastery of Sao Bento de Olinda from the administrative archive of Sphan and the folder of documents referring to the proposal for the listing of the Monastery of Sao Bento de Olinda carried out by Abbot Jose Bonifacio Jansem, filed in the library of the Monastery of Sao Benedict of Olinda. Secondarily, we consulted newspapers in Recife and Olinda that deal with the topic. This documentation allows us to conclude that the listing is a legal instrument that guarantees the protection of cultural assets of recognized value by the State and the Public Power has the duty to protect it and make it indisputable so that the destruction of the Cultural Heritage will never again be allowed of Humanity. |
