Resumo: The objective was to evaluate the replacement of forage cactus cultivar(Opuntia) for cultivar (Nopalea) in diets for growing cattle on the consumption and digestibility of nutrients. Also evaluated were two periods of incubation (144, 288h) to obtain the indigestible fractions of dry matter, neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent iber. We used five of the Holstein heifers, with initial weight of approximately 220 kg.The heifers were divided into 5x5 Latin square design and housed in individual stalls, covered with concrete floor and equipped with feed, masonry and individual drinkers. The experimental diets were based on cactus, sugarcane bagasse, soybean meal, urea / SA and mineral mixture, as 38,0; 42,0; 18,0; 0,5 and 1,5% on the basis of matter dry, respectively. Treatments consisted of the replacement levels (0; 25; 50; 75 and 100%) of forage cactus cultivar (opuntia) for cultivar(nopalea). The intakes and digestibility coefficients dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, ether extract, total digestible nutrients, total carbohydrates, no-fibcarbohydrates and neutral detergent fiber, were not affected by the substitution. The dry indigestible (incubated by 144hs), neutral detergent fiber and acid detergent fiber indigestibles (incubated by 288hs) estimated the production of dry matter digestibility and fecal dry similarly the total feces collection. It is concluded that the forage cactus cultivar (nopalea) can fully replace the cultivar (opuntia) and that the dry indigestible incubated by 144hs and neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber indigestíveis incubated by 288hs can be used in a study of digestibility with ruminants.
