Resumo: From an interdisciplinary perspective of discursive studies, this dissertation aims to discuss the representation of female figures by the traditional Brazilian media, specially their actuation in public sphere. For this purpose, were selected cover reports featured by women, published by IstoÉ magazine during 2018. Bakhtinian concepts were used for the analyzes development, combined with semiotics, in their convergences. This study aims, at first, to investigate dialogical relations that compose each text, as well the socio-historical context in which each discourse is inserted and which implications that carries; thereafter, from the plastic semiotics theory, it aims to study symbolic and semi-symbolic relations that build meaning effects of each analyzed text. Thus, this study reflects the discursive constructions of Brazilian women by the media today, and how these stigmas and stereotypes corroborates with the distance between the female gender and power positions
