Resumo: | This dissertation focuses on analyzing the verbo-visual work ―Kika e a estrela encantada‖ by Klícia de Araújo Campos, a deaf, northeastern, and cordelista teacher. The work was created in the format of comic books and narrates the story of a deaf girl who experiences communication barriers within her family in the city of Teixeira, in the interior of Paraíba. The general objective of the analysis was to infer the meanings present in the artistic-cultural production in the format of the comic book ―Kika e a estrela encantada‖. To do so, we highlight the sequence of specific objectives, which were: to identify the verbo-visual composition of the artistic-cultural production in the work, distinguishing the importance of the joint reading of the verbo-visual, considering that such information cannot be read individually; to verify the Bakhtinian categories present in the work and relate them to the verbo-visual compositions of the comic book; to present, through the pointed categories, the meanings identified in the work considering the culture and voices present in the narrative and correlate cultural aspects with the meanings produced in the work, as cultural aspects play a fundamental role in the construction of the narrative and the meanings produced by the comic book. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative methodological route of documentary analysis was adopted, of a theoretical-bibliographic nature. The corpus of the study consists of verbo-visual texts that were analyzed page by page. The analysis began with the cover of the work, identifying Bakhtinian categories such as meaning, ideology, authorship, chronotope, and polyphony, in addition to Brait's verbo-visuality, present in the verbo-visual compositions, following the same systematic for the other pages of the narrative. We obtained the identification of the proposed categories in the results and perceived, for example, the presence of Brazilian deaf and northeastern culture in the composition of the work, as well as the importance of language and cultural appropriation in the ideological process and in the construction of values of the deaf community. |
