Resumo: |
In the last decades, the Protestantisms have gained visibility in Brazil. Either by its beliefs, behaviors, insertion in multiple spaces of the society, forms of expansion and religious manifestation, the Protestant churches have been constituted as a matrix in evidence in the Brazilian religious field. Despite an effective insertion that took place at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the growth of these churches occurred more markedly from the middle of the twentieth century in Brazil. Holding the largest number of faithful in the country, the Roman Catholic Church (ICAR) has always been attentive to the presence of these groups. Among the positions that the Catholic hierarchy thought and proposed in Brazil is that we seek to understand the discourses produced and conveyed about the multiple Protestantisms by a Catholic periodical of national coverage and relevance, the Revista Eclesiástica Brasileira (REB), under the leadership of the Franciscans of Petrópolis/RJ and printed by Publisher Vozes. The cut between 1953 and 1971, the period which friar Bonaventura Kloppenburg was the editor, is justified both by the recurrence of the theme in this writing period as opposed to the others, by the contexts experienced by ICAR and Protestant churches in Brazil and outside of it, as for the figure of Kloppenburg in the apologetic work at the service of Catholicism in the country. For this, departing from the conceptions of Pierre Bourdieu on the dynamics of the religious field, we use propositions of Discourse Analysis of French matrix from the works of Eni Orlandi, adapted to the historian's perspective in the comprehensionof its sources. One of the marks of these published texts is their recurrence, plurality of perspectives and diversities of objectives. After 500 years of Protestantisms, the REB, as a magazine intended for Catholic priests, constituted a significant space for the (in)formation, discussion and presentation of these themes, fomented by the dynamics of the Brazilian Christian religious subfield, the Catholic clergymen in a period of constant and profound changes in ICAR, in Protestantisms and in the world. |
