The introduction and consolidation of the gaucho traditionalism in Passo Fundo, in the 1950 s, from the publications of the newspaper O Nacional, it is the theme of this dissertation. This includes information about the socio-cultural aspects of the city at that time, as the research documental about the Gaucho Tradition Center Lalau Miranda, in 1952. Following, essentially the studies of Golin, Oliven and Burke and having as base the newspaper publications, the news in the periodical are analyzed focusing in the main theme elect as the problem of the research. The goal of this investigation is to show the set of elements performed in the process of introduction and consolidation of the traditionalism based in a imaginary created by the press. Throughout the analysis, this relation defines a scenario with peculiar features and actuation of important regional and locals agents, such as the press, trades, lawyers, teachers, political and wealthy people in general
