Resumo: This research aims to provide clues about the process first-vogue expansion of secondary education for females in the public school system in the State of São Paulo in 1930 and 1947. Therefore, it selects, among some authors, the propositions de Souza (2008), Dallabrida (2009), Dallabrida and Souza (2014) as well as scholars belonging to Cultural History, such as Le Goff (1990) and Chartier (2003) and also the social history of women Duby and Perrot (1991), Perrot (1995), Del Priore (2001) and Hahner (2003; 2011). Thus, it is understood that secondary education throughout the twentieth century had a few faces, among them, it is noted that the increase was negligible. However, it is important to emphasize the political connection between the state executive power, the intervening State in dialogue with the municipal government in mediating the social expectations towards public education. It is also important to note that the study of female secondary enrollment process in public gyms is a missing issue in historiography from the state education, according to the literature conducted in this study. Therefore, this research, based on analysis of official documents, such as the Yearbooks of the State of São Paulo Teaching, the Statistical Yearbook of São Paulo State and Federal Legislation for the selected period is intended to contribute to the area's History education in order to elucidate the access and expansion of secondary education in public gyms as an alternative education for young people
