Resumo: | The estimation of reference evapotranspiration is extremely important for the irrigation management. The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) recommends using the Penman-Monteith method to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ETo). This method presents an input data demand level that hinders its application, since these meteorological variables are not always available in some regions. With this work, the objective was to verify the efficiency of methods using only the air temperature measurement to estimate the reference evapotranspiration compared with the Penman-Monteith method, in the climatic conditions of Jaboticabal - SP. Average daily data were used between the years 2009 and 2014 of the global solar radiation, wind speed, air temperature and relative humidity obtained in an automatic weather station. The methods evaluated to estimate ETo were Hargreaves, Hargreaves-Samani, Jensen-Haise, Makkink, Camargo and Penman-Monteith. The results analysis was performed by applying techniques that verify the integrity of meteorological data to estimate ETo and using analysis methodologies of average data and standard deviations of ETo. The integrity of the meteorological data was acceptable according to the adopted criteria. The result of the evaluation methods, using the analysis methodology of daily standard deviations ETo indicates that a linear relationship was established, therefore they can be compared. The conclusion of assessment methods, using the analysis methodology of average data of ETo, demonstrates that the Hargreaves-Samani method showed the best fit to estimate ETo |
