Resumo: |
Introduction: Circumcision is one of the world’s most performed surgical procedures. Conventional circumcision and plastic device circumcision (Plastibell), became the most common methods. (AMER, 2010). Although circumcision is one of the oldest known planned surgical procedures, it is not absolutely clear about which surgical or anesthetic techniques are the best ones to use. (PINHEIRO, 2007). Objectives: to evaluate the effectiveness of plastic device circumcision when compared to conventional circumcision in children. Methods: P–patients 0-14 years-old who underwent circumcision I- plastic device circumcision Cconventional circumcision O- aesthetic aspect, bleeding, dysuria, infection and swelling. Types of study: Systematic reviews of studies evaluating plastic device circumcision and conventional circumcision. Data extraction: the data extraction was conducted in accordance with the Cochrane Handbook. Data Analysis: The extracted data was summarized as in a meta-analysis using the Review Manager 5.2 software from the Cochrane Collaboration. Results: Aesthetics were better with the Plastibell, while dysuria was less seen in the conventional circumcision. Bleeding was more often in the conventional circumcision, infection was not statistically significant between the groups and swelling occurred more times with the Plastibell. Conclusion: It was not possible to define which technique was better because of the discordance of the outcomes. These techniques are the most used to treat children and a better-drawn trial is needed to clear this question |
