Resumo: This research was carried out with a Term 1 class of Youth and Adult Education (EJA Program). It aimed to understand the assimilation process of basic mathematics and written language concepts through elaboration and resolution of problem-posing by the students. The methodology approach used was qualitative, collaborative research action through which the researcher collaborated with the educator in class during data collection periods. The research's theoretical framework uses the Historical-Cultural Theory. This theory conceives the man as a historical, social, political and cultural subject resulting from the human relations established among him/her, as well as from the language conception as discourse utterance and dialogical interaction instrument of the subjects in society. We used the principles of microgenetic analysis and indiciary paradigm to analyse the data and verify the development process of both mathematical and linguistics knowledge needed to elaboration of discourse utterance of the problem-posing. As a result of this work, we could verify that the elaboration of mathematical problem-posing utterances by the students allowed an increase on the assimilation process of written language, as well as the mathematical logical reasoning needed to understand and solve problem-posing. Therefore, we can consider problem-posing as object of learning of the mother tongue on the perspective of the mathematical literacy, because it results both in the assimilation of the discourse utterance of the mother tongue on the spoken and written modalities as well as in the mathematical knowledge. It directly contributes to the development of the superior psychological functions of the human being (the spoken and written language and the mathematical logical reasoning).
