Twelve low-income students, between 14 and 39 years old, registered in the 4th grade of elementary school, participated of this study. The procedure consisted of three steps: 1 - see how to have the ability to produce a text from a given theme; 2 - intervention sessions to develop skills in writing stories, through activities, demonstrations and reflections about this narrative structure in stories; 3 - checking the effect of intervention in the writing of the participants. The research was planned according to pre-test (production of stories), intervention (three sessions) and two post-tests (production of stories). The results showed some differences in the effects of the intervention, as some participants made greater progress than others and none of them fell, considering the immediate effects as well as the results obtained sometime later.
