Resumo: The literary work integrates culture, relates to the social environment and can be used to question aspects of society. Therefore, this study analyses the tale Sandra was lucky, by Luiz Ruffato, intending to discuss contemporary female workers. The objective of this work is, through the literary analysis, to evidence some of the difficulties faced by women when trying to enter the labor market. To accomplished that, pursues the dialogue between literature, culture, language and society, according to theorist such as Antonio Candido, Mary del Priori and Leyla Perroné-Moisés. Regarding the theme of gender and work, this study follows research by Michelle Perrot, Christina Bruschini, among others. Finally, the literary analyses and resulting problematizations concerning fictional and real aspects of female work are guided by authors Regina Dalcastagnè, Domício Proença Filho and Antoine Compagnon. Concludes that literary representativity of the female worker benefits both literature and society, because allows to problematize and emphasize several society issues.
