Resumo: This study for the Master of Social Memory and Cultural Heritage of Unilasalle/RS, in the line of research Memory and Cultural Languages, brings reflections on memories that cross in two documentaries made about the artist of fine arts Xico Stockinger: About Sobre Viver Guerreiro (1977) and Xico Stockinger (2012). In addition it is proposed as a final product to create a project of cultural workshop about Stockinger to provide disclosure of their achievements. In this context, the general objective is to analyze how is addressed the memory of Xico Stockinger contained in two documentaries. As justification for building this dissertation there is the fact that: although Xico Stockinger has been referenced in books, art catalogs, at least two documentaries, and his works exist in many different cities, maintaining his memory in the general community is still restricted to small groups of intellectuals and artists, with no diffusion of his life trajectory in many layers of society. The analysis of memory contained in two documentaries was made by verification of collective memory, individual memory and imagination, present in the movies and around the artist. However, it was considered that the memory belongs to the individual and collective at the same time located at a greater prospect encompassing social. In this sense, these memories intersect, when analyzed the two documentaries, memories of the artist and about the artist intersect at various times. Where can be concluded that the two documentaries about Xico Stockinger want to point out a interpretation of his significance for the society of which he is part. Artist's image that is passed wants to give prominence to Stockinger, an effort to preserve his memory in the community.
