Resumo: Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of global mortality, accounting for 18 million annual deaths according to WHO data. Techniques such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) surgeries have the capability to restore functionality to the heart through minimally invasive approaches. In this procedure, a prosthesis is guided to the heart via a catheter and released at the site of the damaged aortic valve. However, this type of technique still presents a myriad of challenges, potentially alleviable through training environments based on interactive technologies such as Mixed Reality, which blends the real environment with virtual elements for assistance. Thus, the present study introduces the development of an architecture to simulate and conduct training for TAVI surgeries in a Mixed Reality environment, utilizing actual medical images of patients in conjunction with virtual prosthetic valves that mimic visual characteristics and behaviors of real models employed in surgery. The tool enables the virtual execution of the procedures involved in the surgery, such as catheter insertion, positioning, and accommodation of the prosthetic valve. It can be utilized for pre-operative training, allowing physicians to choose better options for each patient. The anticipated outcome is an efficiency gain through more effective planning and more accurate strategies to perform the procedure.
