Resumo: | The present work analyzes the marvelous and the spaces that compose Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen, in order to verify how these components influence the journey of the character Gerda. The girl leaves her home after her best friend, Kay, is kidnapped by the Snow Queen and taken to her frozen castle. In the marvelous it is common for heroes to go on an adventure and encounter magical beings. Thus, we will realize that the protagonist begins a journey searching for Kay, on her way she encounters witches, talking animals, women with magical powers, that help her achieve her purpose. The way she relates to these spaces creates a subjectification of Gerda, in which she grows up and becomes an adult. This happens because of her meeting with all these characters and herself. Kay also grows up and both friends return home. In order to analyze the marvelous, we will base on the studies of Tzvetan Todorov, Remo Ceserani, David Roas, Filipe Furtado, Louis Vax, J.R.R Tolkien, Gama-Khalil and Le Goff. In relation to space, we will use the researches of Antonio Dimas, Mikhail Bakhtin, Marília Amorim, Gaston Bachelard, Yi-Fu Tuan, Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. As for the study of the heroine's journey and the confrontation of the difficulties encountered along the way, we will study Vladimir Propp's theories about the wonderful tales, considering also Carolina Marinho’s notes and Tolkien's about fairy tales; and, finally, Foucault's works will be used to analyze the subjectivation of the main characters. |
