Resumo: | The work investigates the working conditions of teachers of the Federal University of Uberlândia, their perceptions regarding the precariousness of the teaching work. In the first chapter, the analysis starts from the transformations in capitalism in the early 1970s that generated changes in work organization and labor relations with the emergence of flexible specialization. In the second chapter, the analysis covers the trajectory of the Brazilian university in the period from Vargas to the government of Luíz Inácio Lula da Silva, focusing on the educational policies of the various governments and their impacts on the Brazilian university. The third chapter deals with teaching work, the educational reforms of the 1990s, the policies for the valorization of public service, a category that includes the teachers of federal public universities and the teaching work at the Federal University of Uberlândia, presenting historical aspects of the development of the UFU, to deal with aspects of the teaching work in the Institution, presenting the case study carried out with the teachers of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences that allows, through the teachers' perceptions, a better understanding of the subjects discussed previously. In the final considerations, it is concluded that the working conditions of the professors of the Federal University of Uberlândia are precarious and that such precariousness is expressed in the aspect related to the intensification of work, since most of the teachers work beyond the amount of hours required in the legislation. For many teachers working hours extrapolate the time dedicated to leisure and rest. In relation to the teachers of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences, there is a strong social engagement that overcomes the difficulties related to work. |
