Resumo: | The present work, in the form of Master Dissertation, proposes the study of five works by Gaucho writer and literate Érico Lopes Veríssimo (1905 - 1975), in which teaching is represented through symbols, gestures, physiognomic, political, social characteristics, economic and moral of the characters, especially Professor Clarissa, who permeates all works. Dissertation on such elements will be the driving force of this work; and Clarissa (1933), Música ao Longe (1935), Caminhos Cruzados (1935), Um Lugar ao Sol (1936), and Saga (1940). In order to draw a parallel between history and literature, including in the meantime the history of education in the early twentieth century, it was necessary to establish categories of analyzes and studies on this relation between Clio and Calliope, as well as to adopt the concept of representation, explored by Roger Chartier. In the face of all the proposals of the work, the potential that the daily life of the characters, especially Clarissa - and their observations on the other - highlights a possible reality within the literary context in parallel with the reality of the historical moment in which the works are written. |
