Resumo: This thesis work in history seeks to investigate, in a first moment of reflection, a series of questions, which were raised in the melee with the sources of work, related, above all, to the historical and subjective processes of the formation of a trajectory , by Jean-Claude Bernardet (1936), as a critic and essayist who became a historian of Brazilian cinema. Secondly, this thesis has, as a horizon of questioning, a fact of reality that are the conversations established with filmmakers, by Jean-Claude Bernardet, throughout its existence, mainly as a critic and essayist of Brazilian cinema. For decades, Bernardet wrote and published his critiques and essays on national cinema, having, deep down, a concern to directly impact filmmakers at the very moment of the creative process of filmmaking. This, without a doubt, because of several factors, such as sociability circles, was an act that really produced effects of style, or at least this became evident, as this investigation was being elaborated. The hypothesis is that, based on and inspired a theory of the subject of psychoanalysis of Lacanian orientation, it was possible to demonstrate how these style effects, provoked by Bernardet's words, can be probed in the correspondences recorded with some filmmakers.
