Resumo: | The current research is a result of studies that englobes a BRT system on Segismundo Pereira Avenue inserted in the eastern portion of Uberlandia-MG, where its being implemented 11 stations and a new bus terminal. Considered as a structural corridor to Brazilian researchers and an infrastructure designed to public transportation, this study aims present the implications caused by its construction, seeking to understand the social and spatial impacts before its official initiation, forecasted to 2017. As urban studies address an ample perspective about space and society, this study startlingly discuss the politic changings that incentivized the use of individual motor vehicles, evidencing the country’s relevance by its railroad aspect in the beginning of the 20th Century, such as the electric trams use in important Brazilian cities, that been replaced by buses nowadays. Located in the western side of Minas Gerais state, Uberlandia became an important area of transition to others regions in Brazil, reason why the authorities brought many investments of infrastructure. Regarding the methodological procedures, this study was based in a previous moment of documentary collection; analysis; and treatment/interpretation complemented by fieldtrips. Faced with these procedures mentioned, the Segismundo Pereira Ave has been structured in three sectors because of its land use diversity, where circulation and signalizing implications, such as changings that reach commerce and service, affected dwellers in the urban boundaries of Uberlandia eastern side. The implications evidenced are straightly related to political-economic issues and the real need to build an expensive infrastructure at this site projects itself beyond the gentrification areas. On the one hand, the rate of automobiles increases exponentially, on the other hand, public transportation quality decreases on the same way, reflection of an inefficient planning and managing to contemporary cities. |
