Resumo: When we read a book, newspaper or magazine, it is not uncommon to come across a term that we do not know the meaning of, some of which seem to be foreign words or expressions, others are in fact, but they seem to be contextualized in Portuguese. When this occurs, we may simply not know this word and when searching and finding its definition, we can increase our own knowledge, however we can also face three different linguistic phenomena: neologism (emergence of a new vocable in the language or the reuse of it according to the rules of the Portuguese language system), linguistic borrowing (use of a vocable of origin in another language with adaptations to the receiving language, in this case Portuguese) or foreignness (use of a vocable of origin in another language in its original form in Portuguese), even though this classification does not mean absolute separation since the three are phenomena of innovation and lexical creation all encompassed in neology, meaning only phases or stages of the neological process New vocables, words and expressions become part of the common and current vocabulary of the contemporary Portuguese speaker more and more quickly. This work aims to demonstrate the occurrence of these phenomena in the Portuguese language and delimit its role in the transformation of our language, and in the interaction of its speakers. Having as a methodology the consultation of a corpus of research formed by magazines aimed at the female audience, once the language as a dynamic body that is easily behaves the three in a related category, we try to describe the occurrence of the phenomena contained in the title (neologism , foreignism and linguistic borrowing), classify them and analyze their formation process, their incorporation into the Portuguese language, we will also perform a semantic analysis of the terms found to infer which field promotes a greater number of lexical innovations, and through these data glimpse the profile of the ethos that these publications intend to give to the readers, as a consequence of this investigation we hope to make clear the contribution that the occurrence of new terms or acquisition of expressions from other languages brings to Portuguese.
