Resumo: Objective: Investigate working aspects of the nursing staff in a hospital unit of Santos area in the deployment process, and develop a proposal to improve the continuous educational process in health at work. Methodology: The study took place in an Infectious Diseases Hospital, in Santos area. In the first step, nurses and nursing technicians who worked in the inpatient unit were selected that were part of the Nursing staff from April to august of 2013. A script with semi-structured questions was elaborated about personal data, profession, work livings, about existing educational activities and others, to use in taped interviews and integral transcribed for content analysis by categories. In the second-step meetings in "conversation wheels" occurred, and topics identified from the first step. Results: Participated ten nurses and thirteen nursing technicians, aged 25 to 55 years old, and nineteen females and four males. In testimonies, insecurity and fear related to the "new" area of infectious diseases, conflicts in teamwork, difficulties in the process of computerization and Continuing Education and ignorance about the Continuing Education. In ?conversation wheels? highlighted the importance of discussions and reflections about problems and difficulties. Conclusions: There are specificities in infectious diseases and revise some educational processes in nursing. A proposal of rooms for discussions and reflections in group-team to promote the continuous education process was made.
