Resumo: Time and temporality issues longstanding permeate the thinking of philosophers and historians. In regards to History Teaching, the concern of time and temporality is revealed in recent historiographic works and also in the current legislation of Brazil. Time is a fundamental concept to the processes of teaching and learning of History students in any particular educational stage. Therefore, this work aims to measure how much students absorb and learn about the concept of time, and to highlight the means by which teachers can stimulate the students to be willing to open up to this concept, making them take an interest in learning about it. In order to achieve this, the most relevant methodological and theoretical concepts concerning the school culture were considered, constituting the path followed. A rigorous qualitative method was implemented in order to gather the relevant documentation to proceed with the analysis, supported by historiographies that discussed time, school culture and History teaching. After examining the results, lesson plans were proposed, and they aimed to enhance the assimilation level of the studied content. With respect to the legislation, the History teaching, and the contemporary historiography about time in the Elementary II, this research intends to support the improvement of the methods employed in the classroom and to substantiate the learning of the concept of time.
