Resumo: | By Analyzing The Books Mission For My Country (1961) And The White Revolution Of Iran (1967), This Dissertation Aims To (1) Examine How Mohammad Reza Pahlavi Narrates The Transformation Of Iran From A Multiethnic And Administratively Decentralized Empire Into A Modern Nation-State, Centered On An Imagined Notion Of Racial And Linguistic Homogeneity Of Its Population (2) Understand The Transformations In The Forms Of Power Legitimacy Between The Qajar And The Pahlavi Eras And In The Narratives That Supported Them. When The Pahlavis Broke Up With The Duality Of Religious And Temporal Authority That Prevailed Under The Qajars, And The State Renounced Clerical Jurisprudence As An Instrument Of Legitimation Of Royal Power, The King Found Himself Having To Provide His Own Narrative To Sanction The Monarchic Institution, Whose Centrality Was Being Contested.
