Cleopatra was the last queen of Hellenistic Egypt and her life and appearance became mythical in Western culture. Through Egyptomania, in contemporary times, her image remains vivid and has malleable contours in medias such as cinema. In Hollywood, specifically, the representations of the queen evoke signs of the Ancient World from an orientalist perspective of the Orient as mysterious and exotic land, foreign and feminine. Numerous cinematographic productions have dealt with the history of the Egyptian queen,since the beginnings of the cinema. From a panorama of theses representations, the aim of the research is to problematize the films as representations of the past and a mediatic propagandistic element of singular interlocution with the present.
