The master's research focuses on the contemporary issues of displaced people due to environmental reasons, following the debate that has taken place within the UNHCR, in particular, the documents published on the Refwolrd site. Therefore, this dissertation focuses on UNHCR normative references, articles, and documents that explain the conceptual debate around people who displaced by environmental disasters. The main goal was to understand UNHCR's conceptions and positions regarding environmental displacement in a contemporary context in which various social agents (NGOs, environmental movements, migratory movements, political leaders, etc.) struggle for the legal recognition of the right to refuge to those who were displaced because of environmental changes. The research was based on the selection and critical analysis of Refworld documents related to internal and crossborder environmentally displaced persons, with an emphasis in the informative ones, articles of the Forced Migrations journal and in Nansen Initiative’s official texts of the.
