Resumo: This research, entitled “An ethnographic study of the interface between family and school located in the West region of Santa Maria”, was anchored in the Social Sciences, in specifically dialogue with Anthropology. The chosen method for the development of this study was ethnography, starting from a qualitative approach, and the immersion period in the field took place from July 2018 to the beginning of October 2019. Although the starting point is the school context, we sought to capture several aspects of the family-school relationship, and, in particular, to analyze the way families are seen and treated by the school. The interface between family and school is a space par excellence for the analysis of tensions, conflicts and divergent perceptions that surround the different moralities of the school space. We sought to analyze the limits and possibilities of this interface, as well as its crises and resolutions - thinking especially of the fact that schools and families interfere and transform each other in their perceptions of the world, desires and projects. We concluded that the effects and consequences produced in this interface are diverse, contradictory, and that its complexity is crossed by issues that also involve prejudice, discrimination and diverse violence.
