The present research aims at to investigate the historical and pedagogical process of the School of Arts and Craft Saint Teresinha, which was linked to the rail service web, in the town of Santa Maria/RS and its influence in the girls education in the earlier twentieth century. In the methodology, I used techniques such as: case and gender study, investigative approach of oral history and memory, photos and document analysis based on reports of the Cooperative of Consumption of Rail Service Workers during the period form 1920 to 1931. The use of interviews made the women that had studied in the school and it generated a new view over the history of feminine education in which every told experience has its value. The photos provided an analysis and a reflection of the historical period. At the end, I tried to carry out a brief history of Santa Maria considering aspects such as: the changes that the railway brought into the town, Manuel Ribas trajectory, the construction of the feminine school and its practices, the influence of the positivism of the catholic religion and its consequences to the composition of a feminine education concerned in maintaining the social stability in which the woman assumed the role of being mother and wife
